Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)

Brought to you by Ben Koble – PharmD

Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is a process of tracking glucose levels around the clock without obtaining a blood sample. There are a few components of CGM -a sensor that has a small wire running under the skin, and a reader that gets the value from the sensor with or without a separate display unit. CGM can help create a better management plan for controlling glucose levels and preventing glucose extremes -both high and low. CGM can, but doesn’t have to, be used in conjunction with an insulin pump.
